Dr Derek Hains is the Owner & Principle Dentist at Hains Dental.
Dr Derek completed his Dental training at Queensland University. Dr Derek has been in private practice for over 25 years and manages all facets of dentistry from the routine to the most complex cases.
Dr Hains is well known for his gentle approach to dentistry, he believes that a visit to the dentist should be as comfortable as possible. Dr Derek is detail-oriented, calm and has an exceptional ability to provide expert care for you
Outside of work, Dr Derek enjoys phantom comics, tennis and spending time with his family. Derek has twins, so caring for children at the surgery is not a problem!
Dr Penny Baker is a highly skilled and compassionate dentist. Dr Baker’s professional background has given her an in-depth understanding of medicine, patient care and the importance of holistic health. This foundation allows her to bring a comprehensive approach to dental care, focusing not only on oral health but also on overall wellness.
After working as a Pharmacist, Dr Penny decided to pursue her passion for dentistry. Before joining Hains Dental Dr Baker was working as a dentist in Northern NSW.
Dr Baker is known for her friendly and caring demeanour and going above and beyond in her patient care. Dr Penny takes the time to establish each patient’s needs, and to ensure that treatment plans are discussed in detail to cover all options and meet the needs of each individual patient.

Dr Penny provides treatments across all areas of dentistry, she has a reputation for providing meticulous, patient care in a relaxed environment.
Outside of the practice, Dr Penny enjoys getting out for a walk with her four-legged friends and spending time with her husband. Fun fact about Penny, she loves to travel and collects Christmas ornaments from every country she visits.

Dr Leah Bennett graduated from Biomedical Science, prior to completing her Bachelor or Dental Health Science and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry at Griffith University in 2009. Since graduating Dr Bennett has worked in private practice both on the Gold Coast and Northern NSW.
Dr Leah is well known for her friendly and caring demeanour and going above and beyond in her patient care. In the clinic, Leah places a high emphasis on the gentleness of her procedures and that they are performed in a friendly and comfortable environment.
Dr Leah enjoys all aspects of dentistry and finds working as a dentist incredibly rewarding and loves being able to make a difference to someone’s overall health and well-being.
If you see Leah out and about locally, you will likely see her with her three beautiful yet spirited boys. Her interests include hot yoga, taekwondo, mosiacing and exploring the great outdoors with the family.
